This was a very good visit! The waitress we had was absolutely amazing and informed us on everything, kept on top of what we needed and was just super speedy. The restaurant was busy too so they really knew what they were doing!

Consistently good. I just went back for a new years eve dinner. I ordered something they were out of, so the waiter asked if I would let the chef improvise something, or I could choose another item. I choose to improvise. It was very good. Our waiter was excellent. We noticed that, because it was slow (around 9pm) that the wait staff was cleaning and polishing the place. I liked that. They were even cleaning the under sides of the chairs!

I sometimes think to myself ... Self, why would you visit a chain restaurant when there are so many other amazing restaurants around the Portland area. I then am asked to go to the Olive Garden because they are honoring veterans for the day on Veteran's Day with a free meal and 10% off of the family meal that you bring. So, I wanted to dive right in. I am not going to bore you with too much of the details with the food here because it was as expected ... not that great and tasted like most of it was frozen and heated and slapped on the plate. The reason that I am giving a review on this establishment is the fact that the service was great here. Our waitress(es) were great and really had some fun with us and knew the menu very well and could recommend the things that we would like to get. The only drawback was that my seafood alfredo was not fresh and tasted a little like the alfredo was sitting in a pan for a while (which it might not have been but it seemed that way) and my son's meatball sandwich was dry and did not have much sauce and the sauce that it did have it was dried to the bread and seeped in. Other than those, the soup salad and breadsticks were great like normal but the service was the only saving grace on this evening because most of the food was so-so.

Incredibly awesome wait staff at this particular location. They are efficient, fast and friendly! in terms of food, I know Olive Garden is frozen and packaged, but I go every now and then when they have a super promotion going on. When I went a couple days ago, they had a buy 1 entree, get 1 entree to go. In addition, I was able to combine it with a $10 off $30 coupon that I found online which expires on 4/20/14 (still a few days left to go!). Even though the food isn't fresh, at least it was cheap and abundant. I got 4 entrees, a drink and unlimited salad/breadsticks all for only 20 bucks. You can't really beat that!

I liked this olive garden. I went hear while traveling for my birthday. The round circle table fit the whole party and we could all talk. The waiter was nice and the fettuccine Alfredo was out of this world. The wait for our food was a bit long and when we first arrived it smelled a bit nasty but besides those complaints I like it.

Great service, great wait time, actually really fast. Great food, wine is not overpriced, great salad, great bread...prices are surprisingly low. Common word here: great.

Mots a chain but I think customer service that's what makes it not the food. Extremely friendly waiters took care of us and our two kids. Food is typical Olive Garden - warmed up refrigerated package. Macaroni Grill is their sister store and just down the street.

I've gone to the Olive garden maybe 10 times in the past year. My SO and I's favorite employee has recently left to pursue her dreams, but there is still really good service, really good food. We have yet to be unimpressed with the taste/quality of the food. There was only been twice were I have been disappointed with the service. The first time we had a young female who basically ignored us, seemed to lack the typical waiting behaviors/manners, she was just not being a very good waitress. I think maybe she was having a bad day, but geez, fake a good mood or just go home! We spoke with management about it and they gave us a gift card and apologized for what happened. That was pretty awesome and good customer service! The second time, it wasn't too bad but it was something we noticed. He treated us differently because we are younger than the other customers. Maybe a little age discrimination? He could have been doing it unconsciously, we didn't really let it bother us tho. Try the breadsticks with Alfredo sauce, it's unbelievably awesome! I love the alcoholic beverages here, I don't drink much but when I do, it tends to be here.

Have been to this Olive Garden a few times from friends giving us gift cards originally. Every time we have had more then excellent service, the management has come to each table and asked personally how things are. The wait staff are attentive to every detail and know the menu well. Clean, modern, friendly and affordable. We continue to return on our own and so do our other friends and family. Can't say enough good things about the people who work here! Only issue at times is the noise level but its because of being very busy and lots of people there, so thats a good thing for business.

Dear John (our server), Your attentive and friendly service made the evening special, if only the food could have fully lived up to that standard. The "Build Your Own" Tour of Italy was good... chicken Lombardy with smoked mozzerella and bacon, the angel hair with meat sauce, and my final choice...the tortellini al forno with alfredo and bacon...Other choices of premium pasta, lasagna, chicken parm are also available. The chicken gnochi soup was as good as I remembered. The salad was pretty standard, with house italian dressing. A little freshly grated parmesan added a nice touch to the fresh greens and veggies. The warm garlic bread sticks were soft and fragrant, they managed to take a small dip into my soup. The other dish that we ordered, stuffed chicken marsala was good as well. The stuffing of seasoned bread crumbs, peppers and cheese, sandwiched between 2 lightly sautéed chicken breasts with a mushroom wine marsala drizzled over the top...delicious. To try to cut some carbs, we ordered some grilled asparagus as a side....unfortunately, it had been blanched as that is how they serve it now. A quick roll across the grill imparted some nice color but that's about all it added. Unless you specify it when ordering, they don't add sauce, butter or seasoning to it. John, you did try to assist by bringing out cheese and some garlic powder to add some flavor--unfortunately, with no butter, oil, or moisture it did not adhere. The manager, AJ, came over and apologized profusely and offered a substitute of grilled mixed seasonal veggies with colored peppers, summer squash, brocolli, and marinated artichoke hearts. The flavor was good but the artichokes still had the hard outer skin that made them a little chewy and unpleasant. Once food is in your mouth, you should be savoring it, not trying to figure out an inconspicuous way to get a piece of it back out. We truly appreciated the dessert that you suggested. The white chocolate raspberry swirl cheesecake with chocolate crumb crust was a very good finish. Sweet, creamy, just the right amount of raspberry flavor, and a moist dark chocolate cookie crust....heaven with a lovely drizzle of raspberry sauce. They also have a chocolate tuxedo cake as well as lemon cake and a Panna cotta with berries that looked amazing as well....but seeing that cheesecake sealed the deal for us. Sorry, John, I realize I'm rambling on. We had an enjoyable evening and your courteous manner and attention to detail made it so. Regards, Diane P. P.S.....Now you know the difference between seltzer and tonic water, please educate the bartender...something they need to know and yes, there is a difference!

For the Portland, ME location, if I could give 5 stars just for service, I would. The only reason this is only 4 stars is because quite frankly the food is just okay. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. But the Portand, ME location has always had a level of wait staff that is above most. I only go here maybe once or twice a year, but everytime the waitstaff is excellent. The food, again, it is what it is. And for what it is, it is good. And you always get plenty. We always leave here with enough extra food for another meal. The other thing is I always love the atmosphere. Each time we go here with friends it is a joyous occasion. Just something about the place.

I frequent this place fairly regularly (about once a month) and am always happy with the service, food and portions. The place is clean and the meal is served timely (in proportion to the level of customers at the time). The Eggplant Parmesan is my meal of choice and never disappoints. This day I had a particularly great waitress (Charla F) who was outstanding.

I am lowering my 2013 review of Olive Garden because of 3 things. First of all my husband & I are tired of having to stop for water on the drive home in order to combat the Olive Garden high sodium content. 2nd, the sausage in the Zuppa Toscana is not as delicious as it once was. I've heard it is Johnsonville Mild Italian sausage, & I have to say we quit buying it at home as well. We suspected super markets could be selling it after it had been frozen? Our final problem with Olive Garden is that Pasta Pomidoro was taken of the menu (only dish not loaded with sodium) but server told us they could still make it. Alas, it was not the same. Originally this dish was served with fresh tomatoes, but our last try tasted like canned diced tomatoes. If anyone else is especially concerned about the high sodium content of dishes, please call corporate which requires asking server or manager for the phone no. We did.

I started going to Olive Garden because of a gift card. We got quite few gift cards for Olive Garden, I do not know why. This time we did not use a gift card just go there a matter of convenience. I am new to this town and kind of surprise there is no waiting at 8:00am. All the other Olive Garden I went to always a 30-45 minutes or more wait. It is only less than half full in the dining area. May it is how it is in a small town and not tourist season. I do not know why the waitress put us in a room with a large noisy party group. When the second couple they brought they request to sit some where else. We should have done so. The menu is limited as usual but there is a new special for 3 courses Italian dinner for $ 12.99. Mostly cheese pasta items. We tried it is not bad if your are not that hungry. The portion is smaller than their usual entry but you can have the unlimited soup or salad and bread. It is a good value. The service are good as usual in Olive Garden, very attentive except they put us in a bad location this time. It could be is the management decision to put all customer in a room for more than half empty dining rooms. You expect what you get in a chain restaurant, but this one is a little unexpected.

First time eating at this location and totally blown away by the service. I am a certified chef and had a hankering for salad, and stopped in with my daughter for lunch on Sunday 10/12. We received probably the single best service from our server AJ then anywhere I have eaten in the past few years. He was attentive, personable AND informative-- something rather rare these days. The manager (also coincidently named AJ) came to our table to answer a question, and he was equally pleasurable. We weren't thrilled with our appetizer of calamari, and found it rather tasteless and lackluster, and when they bring you a refill of their "Never-Ending-Pasta-Bowl," instead of a nice plate, they bring seconds in a medium sized salad type bowl which looked unappealing and was a much smaller portion. The food however, tasted fine, and their salad is a favorite of mine. The food is really 3-star, but seriously the service is far & away much higher then the 5-stars I am limited to in my review. The service at this restaurant sets the bar very HIGH for their competitors, and sets an example for how customers should be treated! Great job!!

Overpriced bland Italian food. Grew up going to the mall area chain restaurants. Hadn't been for years. Went there last week with a 50$ gift card from work and ended up spending 80$ for food that I could have made from a box. Very disappointing food and service is the typical forced smiles, but I don't blame the service for the lack of quality and overwhelming assembly line like food. A five minute drive into Portland will allow you to eat a far superior meal for half the price. Typical elder crowd and large families. If you do go get an appetizer salad and bread sticks. Stay away! Hope our tourism crowds don't turn to the comforting idea of chain restaurants and miss out on classical Italian cuisine that the area truly has to offer. I know when I travel I look at what locals post. Disappointment awaits, drive north on 295. Eat a meal in a real traditional Italian restaurant. It will be worth the drive.

Overall the food was very good, but we were seated in a very noisy area. Also, I ordered seafood Alfredo, but there were no scallops. I prefer shrimp anyway.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
